QUINCY, ILL. -- The search for a new Quincy schools superintendent will continue.

Board of Education president Bill Daniels released a statement Monday saying that the board was unable to reach an agreement with its lone superintendent candidate.

"The district will continue the search process with the help of our consultant, School Exec. Connect, who is committed to bring us qualified candidates until we select a new superintendent," a statement from Daniels said.

The announcement comes after a weekend meeting where the school board met in a closed session to discuss the contract.

The Quincy School District has been without a full-time superintendent since June 30. The district's former financial director Bud Martin served as interim director for several months. The board later appointed former Moline School District Superintendent Cal Lee to work in the interim position.

Daniels didn't outline any timeline to fill the position.
