The name, Cafe DeCurro came from a cafe in England, found by the building's previous owners.

LEE COUNTY, IOWA -- A restaurant in Keokuk is stepping out of the shadows and into the spotlight.

Café DeCurro opened just a couple of years ago and has recently taken on new management. It's the mission of co-owners Brad Culpepper and Jimmi Calhoun to serve the Keokuk community unlike any other place in town.

"There's still a lot of people that don't know we're here. We're off the beaten path a little bit," Culpepper said.

You'll find Café DeCurro on the corner of 7th and Timea St.

"We're kind of unique here, because we're like a deli, but just recently, we've opened up for dinner and lunch on Sunday," Culpepper said.

From filet mignon and salmon steak to chicken marsala and baby back ribs, you're bound to find something on the menu you'll like and at a cost well under 10 dollars.

"You can't go wrong with a tenderized ribeye. What makes it so good? It's filled with greatness. It's the spices, the red onion. It's the grilled bun. The flame is part of the secret to the greatness, too," Calhoun said.

"We serve sandwiches. We serve lattés and cappuccinos," Culpepper said.

Culpepper says he hopes to bring a new lifestyle of food and drink to Keokuk.

"We provide something that they can't get anywhere else, in Keokuk," Culpepper said. A healthier menu, with very little fried food. Everything is fresh and made to order, including the café's best seller, a turkey bacon avocado sandwich, panini or cold sandwich style.

Café DeCurro is open Tuesday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. You're welcome for dinner Fridays and Saturdays from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and for lunch on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
