QUINCY, ILL. -- Sarah Droege has been performing in plays and musicals since she was 13.

"You have to be yourself and be someone else at the same time and it's really difficult," Droege said.

She still remembers what her first audition was like.

"I had no idea what I was doing," Droege said. "I had no previous acting experience, I had nothing. I came in completely unprepared and I didn't get in so you know you have to be prepared."

Droege has come a long way since then. She's now staring in the Quincy Community Theatre's production of GODSPELL.

"It's the best feeling in the world, it really is," Droege said. "It's so wonderful to see other people happy because of what you're doing by being on stage."

If you want that same on stage feeling the first thing you need to do is audition (get a glimpse of the audition process, here).

"Be prepared," Droege said. "Definitely know your stuff. Know what you're going to do, know what you're going to sing."

"Whenever I auditioned for GODSPELL we were suppose to have a monologue and I didn't realize that until the day of," GODSPELL cast member Josh Kollitz said. "That's not a good way to start off the audition process but I got in there and the audition board was in there and they just kind of talked me down and made sure I was calm and comfortable the entire audition process."

"We try to send that positive energy out so that the performers can feel relaxed and do their best," Quincy Community Theatre Executive Director Lenny Bart said.

If your best  effort gets you on stage, the feeling will be ... "...It's awesome it makes every terrifying moment worth it," Kollitz said.

A feeling Droege now knows to well.
