LEE COUNTY, IOWA -- A Keokuk man is in jail after investigators watched him shaking a portable meth lab walking down the street.

Robert Edward Williams, 30, was arrested Wednesday after a brief struggle.

The Lee County Narcotics Task Force said that it was investigating Williams in connection with methamphetamine manufacturing in Lee County.

A task force investigator observed Williams walking in the 400 block of Bank Street. The investigator noticed that he was shaking what is known “shake and bake” lab in a small vessel.

Williams is charged with manufacture of methamphetamine in excess of five grams within one thousand feet of a public park, a class B felony with a special five year enhancement. He is also charged with interference with official acts, a simple misdemeanor.

If convicted, Williams faces up to 30 years and 30 days in a state correctional facility.

The Lee County Attorney’s Office and the Keokuk Police Department assisted the Lee County Narcotics Task Force in this investigation.
