LAS VEGAS -- Miss Illinois Megan Ervin won a Miss America preliminary competition Wednesday night at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.

According to family members at the competition, the 23-year-old Rushville woman won the Lifestyle and Fitness preliminary, otherwise known as the swimsuit competition.

Megan now takes home a $1000 Amway scholarship.

The finals will be televised on ABC 7.2 at 8 p.m. Saturday.
