Sequester: A big word for budget cuts that'll affect your schools

The automatic, across-the-board cuts will amount to $85 billion. If Congress doesn't act by Friday, the budgets of most federal government programs and agencies will shrink. That includes budgets for public schools.

During a time when it seems the cost of just about everything is going up, students at Culver Stockton College have something to be happy about. They won't see an increase in their tuition, at least for another year. That was the decision made at last week's fall board meeting. Trustees voted to freeze tuition at $22,250.
