Monroe City won't be getting an ethanol plant after all.
You might remember more than a year ago we told you a Missouri company called Gulfstream Bioflex Energy had announced plans to build a new ethanol plant near Monroe City's industrial park.
The location was chosen because of the closeness of the BNSF and Norfolk Southern Railroads.
However a year and a half after the announcement it seems those plans are dead in the water.
Monroe City Administrator Jim Burns says high prices for corn was one reason behind the failed ethanol plant.
In fact that's the blame for many other would-be plants here in the Tri-States and around the nation.
