WASHINGTON (AP) -- Senator Claire McCaskill and other Missouri Democratic leaders begin a weeklong RV tour of the state to promote Barack Obama's presidential campaign.
McCaskill kicked off the tour Monday in Palmyra and planned stops in Jefferson City, Columbia and Holiday.
The 17-city tour includes a mix of town hall meetings, news conferences and other events. It's part of the Obama campaign's effort to connect with voters in rural Missouri, where GOP rival John McCain is running stronger.
A revolving cast of Democrats will join her on the trek, including former Governor Roger Wilson and former Senator Jean Carnahan.
The trip ends Friday in Kirksville, and the Democratic National Covention in Denver begins a week from Monday.
