Former Republican presidential candidate acquired heavy online support

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Hundreds of people unhappy with the two major political parties are offering a noisy endorsement of Texas congressman Ron Paul.

Light rain in Minneapolis on Tuesday didn't keep people from waving signs and chanting "Ron Paul, Ron Paul" outside Target Center.

Supporters were still filing in when political commentator Tucker Carlson got the rally under way about a half-hour late. Paul was not scheduled to speak until later in the evening.

Paul made a failed bid for the Republican nomination for president this year. Though he won few votes, he garnered heavy support on the Internet.

Organizers of the "Rally for The Republic" say they sold 10,103 tickets for the event.
