KHQA spoke with State Representative Jil Tracy about the restored budget cuts today.
MT. STERLING, IL -- KHQA spoke with State Representative Jil Tracy about the restored budget cuts today.
She referred to the bills that were passed as a "band-aid" fix for the current budget problems.
By this she meant it will get Illinois through the temporary budget crisis and will not force historic sites and state parks to close, as well as save jobs.
But these issues will still have to be dealt with at some point.
We also spoke with Senator John Sullivan and Representative Rich Meyers about the restored budget cuts.
Sullivan told us the action doesn't restore all of Illinois' needs; however, he said it's a step in the right direction.
Representative Meyers told us he's pleased that the Senate went along with the House's version.
He said lawmakers would've liked to have done more, but the funding just wasn't there.
Meyers told KHQA if the state can find an additional source of revenue in the future, hopefully lawmakers will be able to restore even more cuts.
