ST. LOUIS (AP) -- The Better Business Bureau says the Shawn Hornbeck Foundation has not provided an audit of its financial records or filed some IRS reports months after it promised to do so.

The foundation's president and Shawn's stepfather, Craig Akers, said this summer he hoped to have overdue financial work completed in 30 days. But the Better Business Bureau said the information is still not ready.

A phone call to the Akers family was not immediately returned.

The foundation was formed months after Shawn Hornbeck, then 11, was kidnapped near his home in Richwoods in 2002.

It works to help families of missing children and prevent child abductions. In 2007, Shawn and another boy, Ben Ownby, were found by police in the Kirkwood apartment of Michael Devlin. Ben had disappeared four days earlier. Devlin is serving multiple life sentences.
