CHICAGO (AP) -- It may not be Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich's happiest birthday.

One day after being arrested on federal corruption charges, Blagojevich turns 52 on Wednesday.

Prosecutors Tuesday said the governor schemed to sell President-elect Barack Obama's vacated U.S. Senate seat to the highest bigger in return for kickbacks or a lucrative job.

Blagojevich is also accused of pushing to have a Chicago Tribune editor fired in return for state financing for its parent company.

And records show investigators believe Blagojevich intended to withhold state funding to a children's hospital if he didn't receive a political contribution from one of its executive officers.

The governor has denied any wrongdoing. He appeared before a judge Tuesday and was freed on $4,500 bail.
