A Tri-State man faces prison time for his role in a fatal accident early Sunday morning. Meanwhile a second Tri-State family is mourning the loss of a child.
Adams County Coroner Gary Hamilton says 18 year-old Alissa Zornes died early this morning of injuries she suffered during a traffic crash here on Highway 104 just West of near Five Points early Sunday.
She's the second teenager to pass away from her injuries. 18-year-old Jordan Schieferdecker died Sunday.
The driver of the car they were riding in, 17 year-old Ashley Grave of Quincy, is in Blessing Hospital's Intensive Care Unit with critical injuries.
The Illinois State Police say the accident happened when Grave's car collided head-on with a pick-up truck driven by 20-year-old Matthew Ruble of Quincy.
Ruble was arrested for an aggravated DUI, consumption of alcohol by a minor, leaving the scene of a fatal accident, and not wearing his seat belt.
Adams County States Attorney Jon Barnard says Ruble now faces more serious charges charges, including two counts of reckless homicide. If convicted of those charges alone, Ruble could face up to 28 years in prison.
Barnard says more charges are pending as the investigation continues. Ruble is in the Adams County jail on a $200,000 bond.
This was also a somber day for students at Quincy High School. All four young people involved in the accident were students at Quincy High school at some point in time.
Alissa Zornes had graduated from Quincy High School just last year.
Ashley Grave, who is still in critical condition, is currently a Junior at QHS.
Principal Terry Ellerman says the school held a moment of silence this morning for the two who lost their lives in the crash. He says as you can imagine many students are taking this hard.
Deans and counselors will be on hand all week to help students deal with the loss.

The car Jordan Scott Schieferdecker was riding in collided with 20-year-old Matthew Ruble of Quincy.
Ruble was arrested for an aggravated D-U-I, consumption of alcohol by a minor, leaving the scene of a fatal accident, and not wearing his seat belt.
The driver of the second car, Ashley Grave, and another passenger Alissa Zornes were taken to the hospital for serious injuries.
The crash is still under investigation, and Ruble could face additional charges.
