Beardstown, IL -- A Beardstown, Illinois family is finally living out their American Dream.
Habitat for Humanity of Cass and Schuyler Counties dedicated their third home in the twocounty region Sunday afternoon.
Members of the community came to welcome Brigitte Boyce and her two daughters into their new home on East 2nd Street.
Habitat provided most of the building materials and some of the labor, but Brigitte had to do some work of her own.
She along with family and friends joined together to put in more than the required 400 hours of sweat equity over the past year.
Brigitte told us she feels like she has won the lottery with the keys to her very first home.
"I've always dreamnt of being able to own my own home and now I finally get to sit down and have dinner at a table in trailer I don't have enough room for that and just normal stuff everybody takes for granted I get to do now," said Brigitte Boyce.
After the dedication ceremony Brigitte and her children didn't have to wait and finally moved into their new home.
By the way it was built using energy efficient materials which will help the environment and save the Boyce family money on their energy bills.
But like most homeowners there is still a mortgage, but this one comes interest free and with no profit towards Habitat.
