National Tom Sawyer days has barely passed and the city of Hannibal is already gearing up for its biggest event yet - a year-long celebration of Mark Twain.
The Hannibal Convention and Visitor's Bureau is calling it the "Year of Twain."
That's because 2010 mark one hundred years since the famous author's death and 175 years since his birth.
Executive director Beau Hicks says the city is planning many events throughout the year to make 2010 *the* year to visit America's Hometown.
Reporter said, "So its not just for visitors but for the community as well?"
Executive director Beau Hicks said, "It gives the community a chance to see entertainers they'd have to drive to St. Louis and hopefully fill up hotels rooms at same time."
As for which talent coming into the city, Hicks says he'll soon announce a big name comedian passing through Hannibal.
The Oak Ridge Boys who'll be performing at Clemons Field Saturday, August 22.
