CLARK COUNTY, MO -- Relief for Revere residents. That's the sentiment in Clark County after four men were arrested for a series of arson fires.

KHQA's Rajah Maples spoke with a Clark County Sheriff's Department sergeant about the arrests, how they came about and the motive behind the blazes for this KHQA FactFinder Report.

The sheriff's department says these four men are responsible for about a dozen arson fires in the Revere area since December. 19-year-old Timothy Ball, brothers Bradon and Jason Shotts all of Revere and 20-year-old Jimmy Martin of Farmington, Iowa are charged with multiple counts of arson and burglary.

Detective Sgt. Robert Becker said, "I don't really want to go into the motives. That's something that will come out during court."

All the buildings, including the former Revere Community Church, were vacant at the time of the fires. But many residents feared the arsonists would choose a home with a family inside...or even set a fire that would spread to nearby homes. KHQA asked Detective Sgt. Robert Becker how authorities ended up finding the suspects.

Becker said, "Through the course of our investigation, we were able to find people willing to talk with us."

No one was ever hurt in the arson fires. And Becker says the department doesn't think there are any more suspects on the loose. But he says you can never be 100 percent sure.

The Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms helped in the investigation.

The agency says its partnership with the Missouri State Fire Marshals Office and Clark County Sheriff's Office is another example of what can be accomplished when federal, state and local agencies work together.

I agree completely Jacob. If these kids had an alibi then they wouldn't be incarcerated right now. The obviously have done an investigation otherwise they would have been caught a long time ago. People have to pay for the actions no matter what they have done. Its sad that it had happened but very sad people were losing their old homes or buildings. Whether they were occupied or not they belonged to somebody.

Well instead of saying they are guilty or not guilty, I say we just sit back and see if there are any more fires in the near future, I myself am glad to see that there have been four people caught, and as growing up in Clark County and knowing some of the officers, I beleive they have done a fine job, and before you go judging some of the officers, i think you need to live a day in their shoes.

bars???

Posted by john schitt, kahoka - Monday, July 27, 2009 at 2:03 a.m.

Take out some of the bars? Let's see, VFW (for those who have served this country) MOOSE (private and members only) and Froggies, only one left that is open to anyone of legal age AND is also a restaurant with great food. There is a pool that is open daily, 2 parks, a school with lots of playground equipment, and tons of great neighbors with lots of stuff for families to do??? SO... what was your point? Only thing in your comment that makes sense is that Kahoka does NOT care who they have, just want someone to take the fall. Just as they made one of those arrested do. It's NOT RIGHT when your threatened to loose your child if you do not admit to a crime you DID NOT COMMIT!!! Way to go Becker!!! Your just the officer I want to patrol my streets! Who would you arrest, the 8 year old on a bike, or the drunk SPEEDING driver that almost ran the kid over... My guess, the KID!!!

FOR THOSE OF YOU THINK THAT THE ONES CAUGHT ARE THE ONES RESPONSIBLE, YOUR WRONG!!! I CAN PERSONALLY VOUCH FOR BRANDON ON SEVERAL NIGHTS OF THE FIRES, JASON HAD A NIGHT SHIFT JOB AND WAS VERIFIED BEFORE, BALL WORKS WITH A MAN THAT HAD HIM ON THE STRAIGHT AND NARROW AND CAN VOUCH FOR HIM AS WELL. AS FOR THE OTHER ONE, I HEAR HE IS MENTALLY UNSTABLE AND WAS FORCED TO "RAT" OUT THE OTHERS. SOUNDS LIKE CLARK COUNTY AT IT'S BEST TO ME!!! GET THE TRUE STORY BEFORE MAKING BS REMARKS!!!

It is a relief that they have finally been caught and we hope no more fires will be started. It is sad to see these were the young men responsible as I knew them as kids. But everyone has to pay for their actions and hopefully these were the only ones responsible.
