CAMP POINT,Illinois-   It's not unusual for people in small towns to travel to larger communities to get goods and services.

But in this week's It's Your Business report, KHQA's Stephen Johnson introduces you to a  Camp Point woman whose sign

making talents, encourage people to get what they need in their own backyard.

Express Signs  is located in this old carriage house at 200 East Park in Camp Point.

Mary Lynn Baucom who has had a life long love of art says that she got into the sign making business as a matter of necessity.

She says, " Used to have a business in Camp Point that was a victorian business. However that still had a bit of an art flair to it. So I just...the kids were in school, too much to go to market to try and get everything that I needed for the shop, so I just switched gears and we went with the lettering business."

Her pride and joy is a 54 inch wide digital printer.

This machine allows her to turn out professional style signs and graphics using canvas or vinyl for all sorts of projects.

Baucom says," Everyone has a digital camera anymore and sometimes people have a wonderful picture of their kids that they took. And they can bring it to us, we can professionally enhance it, turn it black and white if they want it, just do all the detailing on it. Then print it for them on a canvas wrap."

Even though her daughter Taylor is helping her out for the summer, Mary Lynn says she still puts in a lot of late nights to get her projects done as quickly as possible.

Mary Lynn says,"Always within probably 4 or 5 days. Sometimes if someone really needs something in a hurry I can get it out for them in a day or so."

Mary Lynn also says the best part about her job is seeing the smiles on her customers faces.

She says, " I love to try to please people...I'll always want to go the extra mile to make sure that we get what they want."

Mary Lynn says the one things that she is most proud of is being able to provide this kind of quality service to the people who live in and around Camp Point.
