Griggsville, IL -- Local officials and area business owners joined executives of The Maschhoffs for a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday at The Maschhoffs' Griggsville Feed Mill.
It's located along IL Route 107 just off the Griggsville/Pittsfield exit.
The project started earlier this summer.
Six 250,000-bushel grain bins were constructed in July.
The groundbreaking marks the next phase of construction.
The plan is to continuously deliver concrete over an 8-day period to construct a 167 ft. slipformed concrete mill tower.
It will house the batching system, pelleting system, and the high-speed load-out system.
The Griggsville mill is expected to be completed in late spring of 2010, but will start accepting grain from local farmers this Fall.
The mill has the capacity to make 400,000 tons of hog feed annually when fully operational.
The Maschhoffs expect to purchase six million bushels of corn from the area each year at a projected cost of $24 million dollars.
