(AP) -- SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - Illinois officials plan to issue guidance for schools on fighting both swine flu and seasonal flu this fall.

The state's public health department and board of education are set to release recommendations Friday at a Springfield elementary school. Reducing illness and limiting the disruption of learning are the goals.

State Education Superintendent Christopher Koch (COOK) and Illinois Department of Public Health Director Dr. Damon Arnold plan to be at the event at Springfield's Lindsay Elementary School.

Since April, nearly 400 Illinois residents have been hospitalized with swine flu and 17 have died.
