KEOKUK, IOWA -- A 66 year old man from Hamilton Illinois has died after being hit by a freight train on Tuesday afternoon near the Keokuk Yacht Club.

The victim has been identified as William Mudd.

The Keokuk Police Department says the accident happened at around four o'clock.

They're not sure about the circumstances surrounding the accident and it remains under investigation.

The southbound freight train did carry a black box and officials will determine how fast the train was going at the time of the accident.
