LATEST ON MANHUNT FROM MARION COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE

The Marion County sheriff’s Office has received a warrant from the Marion County Court Charging Robert W Missen 11-26-79 of Wyaconda Mo with Burglary in the 2nd degree.  This warrant stems from a residential burglary on C.R. 153 near Philadelphia Mo on Wednesday 8-26-09.  Bond has been set at $100,000.00 cash only by Judge John Jackson.  Subject was apprehended by authorities after an extended man-hunt in the Philadelphia area on Thursday afternoon.  Marion County was assisted by MSHP, NEMO Drug Task Force, Lagrange Police Dept, Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, and Clark County Sheriff’s Office during the man-hunt.  Marion County Sheriff’s Office also appreciates the help of local residents that live in the area with the assistance that they provided to the officers.  Without the assistance of all combined,  this suspect would not of been caught in this timely manner.  We sincerely appreciate all of the help that we received.  A female suspect is still at large and investigation is continuing but authorities are confident that she is out of the immediate area.  Any future updates concerning this case will be forwarded in the usual manner.  Jimmy Shinn, Sheriff

One person is still on the loose in Marion County, but one person has been arrested.

30 year old Patricia Gordy is still on the loose.

She's described as being five foot three, weighing 120 pounds.

Her hair is also cut shorter now than the picture given to us by the Marion County Sheriff's Department.

29 year old Robert Missen was found late Thursday afternoon.

You'll remember, both are wanted for allegedly breaking into a home yesterday near Philadelphia, Missouri and stealing guns, ammunition, jewelry, and money.

Police have recovered all of the stolen goods, and Missen was found unarmed.

But that doesn't mean Patricia Gordy isn't still considered dangerous.

It's been a long night for law enforcement in Marion County. Officers have searched some heavily wooded areas most of the night, and all of today. Their efforts did pay off shortly before three o'clock today.

"We found him right outside of 168. We'd been searching terrain all morning long along with air support. A bystander saw a suspicious person cross the road just outside Philadelphia," says Sheriff Jimmy Shinn.

Police then converged on the area you see here, where they found Missen in a deer stand. As I mentioned, he was unarmed, but police aren't 100 percent sure Gordy is.

"We don't know a whole lot of background about her yet. We know she was involved yesterday in a burglary of guns. Residents should continue to lock their doors. If you see her, don't approach her. Don't give her any rides, and call 911," says Shinn.

You might remember, last night we told you authorities had called off the search in Marion County because they had information the pair had crossed into Lewis County. I asked Marion County Sheriff Jimmy Shinn if he was surprised the pair never left this area.

"We had some intelligence last night that they were out of the area. This morning, we stopped at 3:00 or 3:30. We heard they were seen in this area about 6:30 or 7:00 this morning. We were surprised at that. However, they are not from this area, so they don't know where they're at. It doesn't surprise me that much.

Police are still tracking Gordy, and Sheriff Shinn tells me he's pretty sure she's close by. She probably doesn't even know Missen has been picked up.

-------------------------------------

A manhunt has been called off in Marion County, but it's just beginning in Lewis County.

Police say if you live in northern Marion County, Lewis County, even Clark County, you should be aware of what's going on.

Two people are on the loose after trying to steal guns, ammunition, jewelery, and money this afternoon.

A white man and white woman both in their mid 20s are considered armed and dangerous.

You should not pick up any hitchhikers, make sure you lock the doors of your home, cars, and out buildings tonight.

About 2:40 Wednesday afternoon, the pair allegedly broke into a home east of Philadelphia, Missouri when the burglary was interrupted when the homeowner came home.

When the owner walked in and saw what was going on, the suspects took off.

The suspects came down this road being chased by the homeowner. At some point, they drove their truck into a corn field, stopped, and took off on foot.

Shortly afterwards, several jurisdictions joined the search.

How dangerous are they?

"We consider anybody who breaks into a house to steal guns in the middle of the day dangerous. We are looking at them being armed and dangerous at this time," says Shinn.

It's important to note, the suspects did not get away with any of the items they were trying to steal.

"We don't know what they brought to the scene. We don't know what they got out of the vehicle after the chase," says Shinn.

Sheriff Jimmy Shinn tells KHQA his department is not familiar with the suspects, but law enforcment in Clark and Scotland Counties are, and Shinn believes the pair is trying to make its way home, that may be why they headed north into Lewis County.

"I would guess on foot or someone gave them a ride on the roadway," says Sheriff Shinn.

Sheriff Shinn says manhunts can be difficult in a rural area like this because there are a lot of places to hide like tall corn fields, old vehicles, and out buildings.
