QUINCY, ILL. -- Americans may be a step closer to affordable health care.

Congressman Phil Hare was at Quincy's City Hall Thursday evening to discuss healthcare. Hare says he's proud of the health care bill he voted for. He says the bill is a giant leap toward affordable insurance for all Americans.

According to the Congressman, this bill will improve employer-based coverage for 364,000 residents in his district.  It also will provide credits to help pay for coverage for up to 184,000 households.  He says this bill will also improve Medicare for 119,000 beneficiaries, including more than 10,000 seniors.....not to mention reduce the cost of uncompensated care for hospitals and health care providers by $122 million.

The U.S. House of Representatives voted on a health care bill. Now it's the Senate's turn.

Q:Will there be a compromise, or will this issue die off?  "We're gonna have to compromise...I think they're going to have to see a compromise. The Senate bill is marketly different from this one in some respect," Congressman Hare said.
