NEVADA, IOWA (AP) -- A judge in Story County has found the former director of the Iowa State Engineering Communications and Marketing Department guilty of stealing more than $10,000 from the university.

Pamela Ann Reinig resigned from the university after an investigation into her department's financial records suggested money had been misappropriated.

District Court Judge William Pattinson found Reinig guilty of first-degree theft last week after the defendant waived her right to a jury trial.

Pattinson found that between March 2003 and July 2007, Reinig deposited at least 15 checks into her own account that were issued by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education for services provided by Reinig's department.

The second charge against Reinig, ongoing criminal conduct, is still pending.
