QUINCY, ILL. -- There was a special surprise brewing inside the Quincy Public Library.
Area kids took part in a traditional Japanese tea party. Dozens of children got to see first hand parts of the Japanese culture. Kids made origami, learned about Coi fish, and tea.
They also learned how to eat with chopsticks and while they didn't eat real sushi, they *did* eat sushi candy. It was a part of the library's kick off for around the world in thirty days series.
The series brings the world to Quincy.
"Children are not exposed to different people, different cultures and that's why we've decided to do this. And we've never done this before. We thought we'd try it out and see how it went,"said Heather Kath with the Quincy Public Library.
Another reason for the tea party theme is because January is National Tea month. If you're a parent and would like to find out about more activities for your children click this link www.quincylibrary.org
