ST. LOUIS (AP) -- A new $82 million center at Saint Louis University will focus on biomedical research.
University president Lawrence Biondi and others today dedicated the 10-story Edward A. Doisy Research Center.
The center will seek cures and treatments in five areas: cancer, liver disease, heart/lung disease, aging and brain disease; and vaccine development.
The building is the largest construction project in university history.
Doisy was a Nobel Laureate and professor at Saint Louis University who was recognized for his work in biochemistry, particularly his discovery of the chemical property in vitamin K. His family provided some of the money for the new building.
