MACOMB, ILL. -- Teachers at Spoon River College have reached a tentative agreement.

A nine-hour bargaining session between the Spoon River College Faculty Association and the college Tuesday ended in an agreement.

“I'm pleased to announce that after a great deal of work, we have a tentative agreement we can present to our faculty,” union president Stacy Swanson said.

Details of the agreement were not made public.

Teachers will vote on their new contract at a meeting Friday.

The 34-member union filed an intent to strike notice Jan. 11.

Spoon river college has campuses in Canton, Macomb, Rushville, and Havana.

The strike would have been the first in Spoon River's 50-year history.
