Hannibal police officers arrested a Quincy man after a bank robbery led to a high speed chase.
Officers received two calls within minutes of each other shortly before noon Wednesday.
Those calls turned out to be for the same case.
KHQA's Jarod Wells was on the scene as the suspect was taken into custody.
Around 11 O'clock wednesday morning the Hannibal Police Department got a report of a car jacking on Meredith Drive.
About 3 minutes later the department got another call.
This one was for a robbery at the United Community Credit Union on Lindsey Drive.
An officer responding to the the incident observed a car matching the description of a tan Ford Focus.
When the officer attempted to stop the car, the suspect accelerated to a high rate of speed onto Route W.
The suspect then turned into a residential area near Rosewood Drive.
The chase ended after the suspect jumped a curb at the end of the Wildwood cul-de-sac into a wooded area.
The suspect then fled on foot.
Three minutes later at 11:21 the suspect was located in a residence in the 4200 block of Wildwood.
Less than 15 minutes after the first call officers had the suspect in custody.
"I am very thankful for the officers who were responding," said Police Chief Lyndell Davis. "I think it was something like 12 minutes after that call that we had the suspect. I think this reflects the caliber of officers i have employed."
The police department has not yet released the identity of the suspect they have in custody.
We do know it is a 29 year old male.
He is from Quincy, but Chief Davis believes he was very familiar with the Hannibal area.
"At this time we believe he was very familiar with the neighborhood and resided in the area," said Davis. "Whether or not he was on the lease at one of the locations we do not know. We believe the owner of the actually leasee of the residence was very familiar with him.
The suspect was carrying a handgun through both of the incidents.
The gun and a large amount of cash have both been recovered.
There have not been any injuries reported.
The bank employees were a little shook up afterwards, but the chief said they responded calmy and did an excellent job.
The driver of the car that was hi-jacked was around 80 years old.
She was delivering meals to the elderly as a part of the Meals on Wheels program.
She is being interviewed for further details.
The suspect's currently in the Marion County Jail on a 24 hour hold until he's charged with a crime.
