26th annual fundraiser helps Schanbacher kids

Hannibal, MO- A cold brisk day makes a perfect day for a bowl of chili.

The Hannibal Jaycees partnered with Budweiser and other area sponsors for the 26th annual Chili Cook off at the Admiral Coontz Armory. 25 teams participated, and they came dressed to impress and entertain.

There were Nascar teams to flamingos, and even a team to support our troops. We spoke to Hannibal Jaycees Chairman of the Board Kevin Knickerbocker.

He told us there were some changes made for this event.

"We have additional security wearing very obvious florescent shirts, so we have better control over the crowd. We've put up additional fencing and barricades to better control the crowd area outside where the restrooms are," Knickerbocker said.

Knickerbocker says more signs were put up warning people to not leave the building with alcohol, or they would face fines.  The money raised from the event will go to Bill Schanbacher's kids college fund.

Schanbacher died in a car accident last year.
