The number of Dr. Has in Hannibal has doubled. Dr. Edward Ha joined the Hannibal Regional Medical Group to practice invasive and interventional cardiology.
His father, Dr. Richard Ha, has been a cardiologist at the Hannibal Clinic for 30 years...that experience led Edward to pursue his father's passion.
Dr. Edward Ha said, "My dad is my role model. What's it like working side by side with your dad? I see him in the halls. He's my dad but he's also a colleague, a fellow cardiologist."
What's it like to have your son follow in your footsteps?
Dr. Richard Ha said, "Feels great. My son is not just my son, he's also my friend and we're very close so being in the same town and practicing in the same field is great. He's my teacher, too."
As you can imagine, the world of cardiology is ever-changing, doctors have to keep up. While Dr. Edward Ha can perform Cardiac Catherization as well as balloon and stent procedures locally, he learns from his father's extensive experience and vice versa. Though they work from two different medical groups, they say it's all part of working together as a team to provide care for their friends and neighbors in Hannibal.

DR. EDWARD HA JOINS HANNIBAL REGIONAL MEDICAL GROUP
Richard Draper, DO, Medical Director and Mr. Dean Akerson, Executive Director are pleased to announce that Edward Ha, M.D., will be joining Hannibal Regional Medical Group in the practice of cardiology and interventional cardiology.
Dr. Ha, a longtime Hannibal resident, is returning to his hometown to provide comprehensive cardiovascular care including non-invasive cardiology, invasive cardiology and interventional cardiology.
“Sixteen years ago I left Hannibal for more advanced education and I couldn’t be happier returning to my roots,” Dr. Ha stated. “From rounding with my father, Richard Ha, M.D., at the Hannibal Clinic and Hannibal Regional Hospital, to taking care of hometown patients as a cardiology fellow in Columbia, I have always known that I wanted to be taking care of people who have known and supported me throughout my life”.
Dr. Ha was Valedictorian of the Hannibal High School Class of 1993 and graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University with a Bachelors Degree in Biochemistry in 1997. Dr. Ha then attended the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed his medical doctorate degree in 2001. Dr. Ha completed an internal medicine residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in 2004 and a cardiology fellowship at the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2007. Dr. Ha is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He most recently has completed an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Washington in Seattle. Dr. Edward Ha is the son of Dr. Richard and Jeong Ha of Hannibal.
“Dr. Ha’s professional preparation is beyond reproach. He has acquired all the technical skills necessary to be an extremely effective interventional cardiologist and general cardiologist,” stated Dr. Draper. “He is a native Hannabalian and as such, his character is well-known. That, too, is beyond reproach. Dr. Edward Ha will be an important addition to Hannibal Regional Medical Group”.
