A group named the Old Man River Project has been touring the Mississippi River on an uncovered 32 foot boat since mid August.

This six person group started in Minnesota and will travel all the way down the Mighty Mississippi talking to different communities a long the way.

For the past two days the group was in Hannibal.

A member of the group described America's Hometown as a beautiful small town with very gracious people.

We asked what the purpose of this trip is.

"We're just trying to create some awareness for the river. Sort of really show people what the river is about. Show the communities the values and what people really think of the river. As we're going down the river we're finding out about different people's opinions and what they think of how the river is going, the state of it," said Magnus Anderson.

We asked what the next stop was for the Old Man River Project.

But the group didn't know.

We were told they just go down the river until they are ready to pull over or until the weather forces them to.
