No chance for parole

MONTICELLO, MO -- It was a tearful Thursday morning in court as a man who killed his wife and infant son learned his fate.

Christopher Piersee will go to prison for life without the possibility of parole. Piersee was sentenced Thursday morning in a Lewis County Missouri courtroom. In August, 24-year-old Piersee agreed to a plea bargain that would put him behind bars for life instead of getting the death penalty. He pleaded guilty to killing his wife Tish and son Landon.

The events unfolded in a chilled, courtroom full of emotion. Family members of the victims took the stand to remember the life of their daughter and grandson. Even Piersee himself made a tearful statement. He broke down to his wife's family, claiming he never meant for this to happen, and apologized.

After the hearing, we spoke to Gloria Yarbrough, Patricia's grandmother and Landon's great-grandmother.  She told us she and many of her family members had hoped for a different outcome.

"We were hoping for the death penalty, but since that didn't happen...I just hope something bad or worse happens to him than already has been dealt," Yarbrough said.
