(Mendon, Ill.)  A few months ago a drinking water warning was issued for the residents of Mendon.

High levels of nitrates were found in that water.

Warnings were posted all over the city stating the water may be unsafe for children under six months of age.

We recently received some concerns from a viewer that those signs were still posted.

So we found if there is still a problem with the drinking water, here's what we dug up with this KHQA FactFinder Report.

Mayor Dean Woodruff says things are pretty well under control now.

Recent readings over the past couple of months have been either at 10 or below 10.

The last reading was at 8.

Illinois EPA needs to be notified when the nitrate level goes over 10.

As for the the signs, Woodruff says they're are old and haven't been taken down.

Water is being tested at least three times a week for levels.
