(Quincy, Ill.)  Democrat Mike Boland has been an Illinois State Representative for over 15 years, and he has now entered the race to become Lieutenant Governor.

Boland stopped in Quincy today as part of a tour of Illinois to kick off his campaign.

With Republicans already winning a few races around the country, we asked Boland if he felt Democrats were in danger of losing the office in Illinois.

"The country is changing and people are more independent minded. I like to remember that when Rod Blagojevich was governor, the thing he said about Mike Boland was he is the most independent minded member of the legislature. He didn't like that I don't think. So I think we as democrats have to promote good programs, we have to come up with ideas that can help the state, the people," said Boland.

Boland stressed creative thinking will be a key to change in the State of Illinois.
