QUINCY, ILL. -- Tri-State residents will soon be able to fly to St. Louis and other Midwest towns at a low cost.

Sunday, Cape Air will begin service in Quincy. The first flight is scheduled to arrive around 1:15 pm.  We spoke to a Cape Air spokesperson.  She told us the airline decided to provide air service to Quincy, because Cape Air is apart of Essential Air Service or E.A.S.  That means they service areas that are geographically challenged.

The spokesperson also told us providing service to remote areas is one of the keys to Cape Air's success.  But it's also their prices.

"The aircraft, the Cesna 402...we fly 2 passengers or we fly 9 passengers we're able to afford to take the hit for 2 or less. They don't cost a lot to operate," said Director of Communications for Cape Air, Michelle Haynes said when asked how they can afford to set lower prices.

The airline also will have a code share agreement with American Airlines. That's one of the many reasons Mayor John Spring believes Cape Air will do well in Quincy.

"I think this is a wonderful opportunity for us to rebuild our commercial air service here in the Quincy market...they've really gone all out. 6 daily flights for us and 3 on the weekend.  We're really looking forward to this 2 year partnership," Mayor Spring said.

Ticket prices on all routes are $49 one way, and $98 dollars round trip. You can go to www.capeair.com for flight times.
