QUINCY, IL -- Quincy City Council Monday night approved a 3-year contract with Allied Waste Management to handle solid waste disposal and the citywide cleanup. The total cost was $1.04 million dollars.

City Director of Purchasing Dave Hummel said Allied and Area Disposal Service of Pittsfield responded to the city's request.

Aldermen also approved a $22,000 quote from Poepping Stone Bach to design the first four-plex housing unit in the city's neighborhood stabilization program.

Two four-plex units will be built as part of 24 homes that will go up or be rehabilitated.

The city will give four units to the YWCA and four to Transitions. The rest will likely be operated by the Quincy Housing Authority.
