QUINCY, Illinois-Wildwood Girl Scout Camp in Mt. Sterling could be closing by 2012.
It's among several properties Girl Scouts of Central Illinois plans to sell as part of a 10 year property plan.
Over the past thirteen months, the Girls Scouts organization has undergone an evaluation of its properties and developed the long range plan.
According to the Girl Scouts of Central Illinois' website, the vision of the property plan is to provide modern, relevant properties for Girl Scout programs.
It goes on to say studies show that girls aren't as interested in primitive camping.
That's why the Girl Scouts of Central Illinois plans to buy and create program centers in Quincy and other areas across Central Illinois to be used as troop activity halls containing things such as a gymnasium, full kitchen, sleep space, and green space outdoors.
