QUINCY, ILL. -- (Quincy, Ill.) Wednesday, December 2nd was moving day for the Adams County Health Department.
After 13 months the Health Department was finally able to move into its new facility on the corner of 4th and Hampshire in Quincy.
The more than $5 million project is 28, 500 square feet.
We asked Adams County Public Health Administrator Nancy Bluhm what features the new facility offers that the old place lacked.
"We have a fire alarm system, sprinkler system. We have a generator, we have parking, we have an elevator. We have a centralized waiting area. And for our clients we're very happy that we're going to be able to serve them in a more confidential and secure manner," said Bluhm.
Bluhm says this facility will allow the health department to better serve the public.
"When we do intake at the reception area, it looks like a bank teller. There are tall dividers between the two and we're hoping that gives just a little more confidentiality," said Bluhm.
Bluhm says the health department should be able to serve some walks in through the end of this week.
By Monday she says the department should resume regular business.
The normal Immunization Clinic and TB testing will not be held this week and the times for the Immunization Clinics will change when business resumes on Monday December 7th.
The new times will be Mondays 1-6pm, Wednesdays and Fridays 1-4pm.
TB testing times will remain the same: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 1-4pm
