MONROE CITY, MO. -- Getting a new car free of charge is usually something you see on game shows, but one Monroe City woman got just that as an early Christmas surprise Thursday, December 17th.

Lisa Weisenborn was the recipient of a new-used car from JC Collision Repair in Monroe City.

It was part of the National Benevolence program.

Shops that participate in this program work with local organizations to find an individual, family or group in desperate need of a vehicle.

The shop then fixes up a car and presents it to the chosen recipient.

Lisa Weisenborn is currently working in Hannibal and going to school to become a nurse, all while raising three kids.

She says this car will bring here a step closer to reaching her goals.

"It's going to help a lot because I'll be able to get to school and afford to drive to school and able to work part time or full time," said Weisenborn.

Weisenborn's three kids were also given some early Christmas presents.

Lisa says her kids would not have been able to get very many gifts if she would have had to buy them on her own.

The kids received everything from baseball gloves and a letterman's jacket to I-Pod's.

Lisa also was given a new washing machine.

A total of 40 sponsors from the Monroe City Area pitched in to help out with buying the gifts.
