VIRGINIA, ILL. (AP) -- The trial for a 74-year-old Cass County woman accused of shooting her granddaughter's estranged husband to death has been moved to Quincy.

Eighth Circuit Judge Mark Schuering ruled Wednesday that the trial for Shirley Skinner of Ashland should be moved because pretrial publicity could prevent her from receiving a fair trial.

Skinner's attorney requested the change.

Skinner has pleaded not guilty in the death of 32-year-old Steven Watkins of Chandlerville.

On Dec. 16, a grand jury also indicted Skinner of previously trying to hire two men to kill Watkins.

Watkins was shot to death Nov. 25, 2008, inside Skinner's home.

Jury selection in the trial is scheduled to begin Jan. 21.

Skinner is being held in lieu of $5 million bail.
