JOLIET, Ill. (AP) — A neighbor of former Illinois police officer Drew Peterson has testified that Peterson's fourth wife said before she disappeared that she was afraid her husband would kill her.

Sharon Bychowski (by-KOW'-skee) said Monday that an upset Stacy Peterson told her that if she disappears, Drew killed her.

She says she told Stacy Peterson to write down her fears and that Peterson responded: "It doesn't matter. I'm already dead. He's going to kill me."

Drew Peterson has not been charged in Stacy Peterson's 2007 disappearance, but he is considered a suspect in the case.

The former Bolingbrook police officer has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the 2004 death of his third wife, Kathleen Savio. Monday's testimony came during a pretrial hearing into the use of hearsay at the upcoming murder trial.
