MACOMB, ILL. -- Update 11:55 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 4
The following is a news release from the Macomb Police Department;
Macomb, IL- Today at 9:00 a.m. Macomb Police Chief, Curt Barker, provided the following update to the Farm King Shooting:
Approximately 23 rounds were fired; approximately 16 of those rounds were at MPD Officers.
The rifle was a modified AR-15 .223 caliber
All ammunition that was used was taken from inside the store.
Update 11:15 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 4
Macomb police provided more information this morning about yesterday's incident at the Farm King store which ended with the death of Jonathan Labbe, age 19, of Tennessee, Illinois.
The department has given no word on the motive for Labbe's actions, which involved gunshots at the store and his death from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Macomb police say he fired approximately 16 shots when police tried to enter the store, out of a total of 23 rounds. Police do not believe he was trying to shoot at anyone in particular. They also say they do not know if Labbe went to the store with the intention of taking his own life.
No one else was hurt.
Labbe entered the store with a gun, and got the ammunition after he entered the store. Macomb police told the media that Labbe did not have a Firearm Owner's Identification, or FOID card. It's not known to whom the gun was registered.
The department also clarified that there were no hostages taken during yesterday's incident.
Employees and customers inside the store hid after the situation started, and police believe Labbe did not know their location.
Labbe's mother was on the scene Wednesday afternoon, but police would not let her go into the store.
Officers would not give much information about Labbe's past, although they did say he had received a good citizens award from the Macomb Police Department for helping catch a suspect in a drug case, and he participated in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.

"He just asked, uhm, to unlock the gun cases. He wanted our ammunition and he says, you don't want to be a part of this."
KHQA's Alexis Hunt also spoke with Rick Severs with Farm King.
He told Alexis he hopes the store will reopen tomorrow, after glass is replaced and the store is cleaned up.
Crisis counselors will be on hand for employees who wish to speak with them.
Counselors also are available for both junior and senior high students in the West Prairie school district, which Labee attended.

A 19-year-old Tennessee, Illinois man is dead after a shooting at a farm supply store in Macomb Wednesday afternoon.
Police say Jonathan Labbe fired between 15 and 20 shots at Farm King.
A 911 call came in around 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
Police say Labbe fired shots at officers then went back into the store.
Wednesday evening, Macomb Police Chief Curt Barker confirmed Labbe's body was found in the housewares section of the store.
He died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
This ending came after a five-hour standoff.
When asked if Labee had any connection to the store, Police Chief Curt Barker answered, "Not that I know of and as our investigation goes along, we'll have to look into that."
East Jackson Street was barricaded.
Every emergency response team imaginable turned out at Farm King and kept dozens of onlookers at a distance. Chief Barker says no one was hurt besides the shooter.
