BURLINGTON, IOWA (AP) -- A judge in Burlington has upheld the constitutionality of Iowa's Smokefree Air Act, which bans smoking in most public places.

In a 32-page ruling made public Thursday, District Judge Mary Ann Brown affirmed the decision of state liquor regulators to revoke the liquor license of a West Burlington bar called Otis Campbell's.

State records showed that dozens of smoking complaints were filed against Otis Campbell's after the Iowa Smokefree Air Act took effect July 1, 2008.

Attorneys for bar owner Larry Duncan argued that the law violated clauses in the state and federal constitutions.

Neither Duncan nor his lawyers were available for comment Thursday.
