QUINCY, ILL. -- In Tuesday morning's Get Fit, Get Healthy Tri-States tip, we talk sugar.

We all know we have too much of it in our diets.

KHQA's Rajah Maples asked some local experts, "why too much sugar is bad for you," and what you need to keep in mind when choosing what you eat.

Anne Rupert is a physical trainer at Advance Physical Fitness. She said, "If you intake too much sugar, your going to have highs and come down low. Once you do intake too much sugar, you're going to want to start craving more of it, and more of it, and more of it and it's going to be hard to get away from that. Not eating healthy can cause you to be down, definitely not as productive, a.) either at work or at home. 2.) you just don't have the nutrition in your body. Your body isn't going to function at its maximal level. You can even see things down to the texture of your hair and skin tone."

Cheryl Loatsch with Cheryl Loatsch Studio says too much sugar ultimately leads to Type II Diabetes, which impacts every organ in your body and contributes to heart disease.

The most pervasive issue she sees with sugar stems from what we drink as much or more than what we eat.
