BURLINGTON, IOWA -- The following is a news release from the Des Moines County Iowa Sheriff's Department:
On Monday, July 26, 2010, at approximately 2:15 p.m., the Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office was notified that a tug boat operator had located a body floating in the Mississippi River on the Iowa side of the channel across from Oquawka, Illinois.
Deputies responded and recovered the body of Kevin Mark Carstens, age 48, of Davenport, Iowa.
The body was positively identified through dental records during an autopsy conducted in Ankeny, Iowa.
It was confirmed that Carstens died as a result of drowning.
The victim’s vehicle was recovered one block from the Mississippi River bridge in Muscatine, Iowa.
