QUINCY, ILL. -- The president of Quincy's school board isn't sure what he plans to do next.

That's the word from Melvin "Bud" Niekamp.

KHQA's Rajah Maples sat down with him Friday afternoon to get his thoughts on Thursday's ruling.

A judge declared his 2009 election to the Quincy School Board void.

The judge said the law was clear that a person was not allowed to serve on both the county board and school board at the same time due to a conflict.

We asked Niekamp what he thought of the judge's decision.

Niekamp answered, "There was no doubt in my mind that would be the way she would determine this case. It's just an opinion. It's not really a law. She didn't do things the way I thought she should've done it. But that's her decision. You can't second guess a judge."

Niekamp will be allowed to remain on the board while an appeal is made.

If no appeal is filed within 30 days, Niekamp will be ousted from the Quincy School Board.

Niekamp said he does not plan to resign.
