QUINCY, ILL. -- The Collins Family has attended back to school fairs for the last three years.

"Since I'm unemployed, it makes it a lot easier on us," said Kevin Collins.

Hundreds of families waited their turn picking out everything from bookbags, clothes and a new back-to-school hair do.

"The haircuts, the immunizations, all of it's taken care of," said Collins. "It's nice that it's here for the community, especially seeing how much community outreach there is."

Throughout the morning, students also received dental check-ups, lead screenings and physicals, all located within two blocks of the First Baptist Church.

"I'm glad the help is here, because people like me, we wouldn't be able to afford this," said Collins. "Unemployment checks pretty much go to bills. What's left over is groceries. They've helped a lot of people."

At last count, the church welcomed 672 kids through its doors. That number's expected to grow throughout the next two weeks in which families can contact the church for help. All items at the fair were donated through a variety of organizations. As a thank you, families were encouraged to bring a can of food for the Horizons local pantry.
