Quincy school offers fresh fruit and veggies

QUINCY, ILL. -- Washington School in Quincy is one of 188 schools getting fresh fruit and vegetables to eat this school year.

The Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program is a federally funded program through the Illinois State Board of Education.

State officials hopes this program will help kids make healthy eating choices.

All 188 school will share the $3.3 million dollar grant which averages out to 50 dollars a kid.

Kids are offered them during their mid morning snack.

Kids at Washington school we talked to said they really enjoy the food.
