JACKSONVILLE, ILL. -- The Springfield Illinois man accused in the murder of a Morgan County woman last August could go on trial in January.

Steven Pryer was in court in Jacksonville and his attorney says they should be ready for trial early next year.

It's not known if the Morgan County States Attorney will seek the death penalty in the case.

Police allege that Diann Hoagland was shot and killed just outside of her home after she interrupted a burglary.

Pryer remains in jail on a two million dollar bond.
