Derek Jennings lose left leg below the knee

A 33-year-old Quincy man is in Walter Reed Hospital in Washington D.C. after stepping on an IED Afghanistan last month.

1996 Quincy Notre Dame Grad Derek Jennings has lost his left leg below the knee as a result of the explosion.

He has also been through several surgeries on his right leg, which was also injured.

Jennings was initially treated in Germany.

Jennings is in the 101st airborne division out of Fort Campbell, Kentucky and had just received his Army ranger pin.
