HANNIBAL, MO. -- Hannibal-LaGrange University is getting ready to celebrate its new name.

A special celebratory chapel will be held to commemorate Hannibal-LaGrange’s name change from College to University on Jan. 11, 2011 at 10 a.m. in Parker Theatre in the Roland Fine Arts Center.

The event will include comments by Dr. Tom Hufty, HLGU Vice President for Collegiate Affairs; Dr. Larry Lewis, HLGU President Emeritus 1981-1987; and Dr. Woodrow Burt, HLGU President. There will also be musical selections as well as an unveiling of the new monument sign.

The university name will more accurately describe the institution to the public and international community.  During the 2010-2011 academic year, Hannibal-LaGrange was home to students from 26 states and 29 countries.

The public is invited to attend and help celebrate this significant event in the history of the institution.  For more information, please contact Steve Miller, vice president for institutional advancement, at (573) 629-3123.
